Underwater Inspection

As part of Infinity’s advanced measurements tools, the firm operates robotic drones equipment to perform unmanned, underwater inspections. The underwater drone is equipped with onboard high-resolution video cameras which can capture crisp and clear details. This tool is very useful in performing inspections for inaccessible marine projects, such as dock structural assessments. Visibility is controlled by the clarity of the water and is equal or better to that of a diver making direct contact.

Much like an aerial drone, the underwater drone operates using a tablet onshore; giving the operator the same view as the drone. The drone video feed can be shared in real-time, making it possible for clients and engineers to participate in the inspection dive without being on-site.

Underwater drones are useful in performing quick preliminary condition assessments, as they can be launched on short notice at a minimal cost. Once drone footage is obtained, it can be determined whether divers are necessary for further investigation. In this way, the drone confirms the need for divers and identifies specific areas of concern; allowing a dive team to focus its time and efforts where it is required the most.

Infinity can assist in detailing and coordinating a plan for underwater inspections, using underwater drones, divers, or both, depending upon your project’s needs.
